Overcome Stress About Diabetes Medication

Diabetes Medication

I’ve just started a new diabetes medication: Jardiance.

I’ve been on Metformin for my diabetes since onset in 1998. I was up to 2/500mg in the morning and another two at night. I was having some abdominal issues since going from three pills to four so on my last visit my doctor added Jardiance and cut some of the Metformin. So now I’m taking 1 Metformin and one-half Jardiance in the a.m. and 1 Metformin at night. It’s only been a week or so, so I’m just trying to give it time for my body to get used to it. Right now, I’ve only seen two side effects: constipation and lightheadedness. Both are mild right now, so…(sigh)

If you are struggling with adding a new medication, just know that you are not alone. And remember, it’s gonna take your body a minute to adjust. You may have a few hiccups along the way, but just give it time (for me, at least a month) so you’ll know if it works for you or not.

In all, I’m just grateful to not be on insulin. I will wait it out and see how my body adjusts. Has anyone used Jardiance? What were your thoughts on it?

  1. Diet is very important. Patients must read about the side effects and try to monitor them.. My father is using Treviamet 50mg+500mg Tablet since May 2019. He only suffered mild side effects occasionally.

      1. Yes, diet is very important. Diabetic patients should stay away from the processed food and milk whitener.

  2. I don’t know much about Jardiance but I feel the same way about waiting when you start new medications. I almost always have side effects so I try to wait a week or two so my body has time to adjust. I hope you get used to this new medication and my dad gets constipation as a side effect of his blood pressure medication but eggplants and peanuts help him a lot with it. Thought I would share that in case it helps you too.

I want to hear what you think!
